Welcome to Rock Ridge High School

Dear Rock Ridge Students and Families,

I am incredibly excited and honored to begin this school year as the new Principal of Rock Ridge High School after spending the last four years leading North Star Elementary. During my time there, I had the privilege of opening one of the most innovative elementary schools in the region, building a culture of leadership, responsibility, and high expectations. Together, we created something special—and now I’m eager to bring that same energy and vision to Rock Ridge High School.

As we enter Year Three of RRHS, the foundation has been laid. You’ve built something with incredible potential—world-class facilities, passionate educators, and students who are ready to lead. My goal this year is to help us take that next step: to create not just a building we’re proud of, but a culture we all believe in. A culture where every student is known, supported, and challenged. A school where people walk in and immediately feel the pride of being a Wolverine.

This year we will be launching “Our School, Our Responsibility,” a building-wide initiative focused on student leadership and ownership. Every student will be expected to play a role in making Rock Ridge a safer, cleaner, and more welcoming place. Whether it’s through hallway behavior, school cleanliness, or how we support one another—this is your school, and it’s our collective responsibility to care for it.

We will also continue to raise expectations around behavior, attendance, and academic engagement. We cannot deliver a world-class education without students present, focused, and ready to learn. Teachers will maintain clear expectations in their classrooms, and consistent consequences will be enforced when needed. But just as importantly, we will celebrate and lift up those who lead by example.

Other key policies for the year remain in place:

  • Closed campus during lunch and most study halls (exceptions only for PSEO students or excused appointments).
  • All vehicles must have a valid parking permit and be parked in designated student areas.
  • No cell phone use during class time; phones must be stored per teacher expectations and will result in consequences if visible during instruction.

This year, we will also continue developing our Career Academy pathways, improving school-wide routines, and moving toward becoming a Leader in Me School, where students practice leadership, accountability, and service every day. You’ll see more consistent hallway expectations, clearer communication systems, and added layers of student support.

I believe deeply in partnership and communication. Families, staff, and students all play a role in shaping the culture of a school. If you have concerns, questions, or ideas—I welcome them. Let’s work together to make this school something we’re all proud of.

I encourage you to get involved—attend a game or concert, follow our social media pages, volunteer, or simply ask your student how their day went. Rock Ridge High School has limitless potential, and I’m thrilled to lead us into this next chapter.

Here’s to a powerful start and an incredible year ahead.

With pride and excitement,

Scott Manni
